About Us

We the creators of Tot Stops, Illustrator Selina Alko and designer Jessica Sequinot, met on a warm autumn day on a play date at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. As our children shared organic ohs and drooled on the picnic blanket we talked about our love for baby clothes. We quickly became good friends and decided with our unique talents to create a fun and creative baby clothing business that could meld both of our skills.

Tot Stops is a hip children’s clothing line that taps its audience--parents, relatives and caregivers of young children--into the bustle, chaos and joy of living in New York City. The core of our business is to provide an outlet where parents, grandparents and friends can celebrate with their young loved ones the cultural diversity and community that makes New York such a memorable international city.

The clothing line is meant to inspire and capture the spirit and excitement of New York City’s busy streets and well known landmarks to both residents and visitors alike. As parents, we want to offer a fun, creative way to sell these shirts by also offering an online guide of family friendly places in the city we know and love. Therefore, the company website, TotStops.com, is a fun, modern map based guide to New York City geared for parents and caregivers of babies and toddlers.

We feel a New York City-themed children’s clothing line fills an unmet niche and need. Much of the current New York City themed merchandise found in stores (or on the street) is cheaply made and poorly designed. We will offer a high quality, homegrown, sweatshop-free t-shirt that people associate with the fun, intelligent, artistic and creative side of New York City. Our high quality materials and hip designs depicting real paintings and published illustrations appeal to discerning consumers who realize their incomparability to anything else on the market.

We want to be in the business of promoting New York City as a first rate, exciting and modern city for families to explore. We want to make souvenir t-shirts cool again. There is a definite need for fresh modern designs in the wake of the standard cliché souvenir t-shirts. Other than our amazing and brilliant children Chloe and Isaiah we are inspired primarily by the cities unique urban landscape and the abundance it has to offer families. Secondly, we are inspired by the poorly designed souvenir shirts available on the market, which make our first rate city look out of date.
